Notes:

 

  • Cash for clunkers rebates will be offered on new appliances. Three dozen states will launch programs in March and April to distribute almost $300 million in rebates to consumers buying energy-efficient appliances. The rebate is said to be only $75.00 so do they expect someone to spend $600 to get back $75.00? Thank you government for wasting my tax payer dollars.

Indiana Senator Evan Bayh announced this week that he will not seek a third term this year. Now before I start, I have always thought of Bayh as a stand up guy. Of course that is my opinion and some will disagree with me on that, but I felt that when Bayh voted for the Health Care bill and stimulus package, that made him unpopular with Indiana voters. "Employers unexpectedly cut 20,000 jobs in January, but the unemployment rate surprisingly fell to a five-month low of 9.7 percent, according to a government report last Friday that hinted at some labor market improvement starting to take root." Besides the inherent contradiction between headlines, it always intrigues me that the so-called experts are "surprised" or something "unexpected" happened.

The CBO had projected the federal deficit to be at $1.35 trillion and Obama just unveiled a record $3.8 trillion budget. This past Monday, Obama sent to Washington a record $3.8 trillion budget for 2011 that would boost war spending, trim domestic spending and rely on $1.3 trillion in new borrowing. The budget would be the third in a row with a deficit of more than $1 trillion.
